Earlier this week, FutureRailway, the rail industry’s innovation accelerator, announced their forthcoming Rail Operator Challenge Competition (ROCC) at an event in London on Monday. The audience of Train and Freight operators plus suppliers, with a high representation by senior management, welcomed the £3.5m rail operator-focused co-funding from FutureRailway. The competition is backed by the Department for Transport (DfT) to address the innovation gap and implement cross-industry co-operations.
As part of the event, Russ Noble, Business Development & Partnerships at IXC (InnovationXchange UK), gave a presentation introducing the Innovation in Franchising (IiF) Programme initiated by the Department for Transport (DfT) for future passenger franchises (i.e. for Train Operating Companies- TOCs). The programme will commence with the Inter City East Coast (ICEC), and IXC is working as part of the FutureRailway team to provide the industry with innovation support aligned to the IiF agenda and ICEC bid timetable.
The Rail Operator Challenge Competition (ROCC) will open on 31 March 2014.
